The AOP Green Award: Recognising leadership in sustainable image-making
13 October 2025
In October, we were honoured to receive the first-ever AOP Green Award at the 40th Association of Photographers Awards — a milestone moment for us and for the industry as a whole.
Created to recognise leadership in environmental good practice across the photographic and image-making world, the award highlights the growing recognition that environmental responsibility is integral to the future of our industry. Huge thanks to the AOP and the brilliant judging panel, Carol Sharp, Lameya Chaudhury and Lisa Merrick-Lawless, for their time and insight.
While recognition is always encouraging, we know that celebrating anything against the backdrop of a planetary crisis feels complex. Can a commercial production company truly align with a sustainable, thriving planet?
Our answer: absolutely — if we choose to make it so.
Creativity has always shaped culture, and we believe the skills and imagination of the creative industries are essential tools for building a regenerative future.
Here's how we're taking action:
1. No fossil fuel or air travel clients – we decline work in those sectors, aligning with Clean Creatives.
2. People and planet alongside profit – measured through our B Corp certification.
3. 1% for Nature – every budget includes an optional contribution, with funds going directly to rewilding projects via 1% for the Planet.
4. Carbon literacy training – delivered by Creative Zero for our team and crew.
5. Measuring and reducing CO₂ – using the AdGreen carbon calculator.
6. Low-impact productions – vegetarian shoot menus, shared vehicles, public transport, and flying only when absolutely necessary.
7. Mission-aligned suppliers – including The Styling Bank, Gripvan, Pedal Me and Get Set Hire.
8. Producing for purpose – creating campaigns for organisations like Sussex Bay and Knepp Wildland Foundation.
9. Championing change-makers – through communities such as Purpose Disruptors, the Better Business Network and Creatives for Climate.
10. Collaborative workflow design – proving that sustainability doesn’t have to compromise cost or quality; in fact, the best work comes from collaboration, not competition.
